Faye was a dedicated and simply wonderful teacher for over 35 years. She graduated from Women’s College, now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Faye started her teaching career in Oakboro, NC. She then taught in a one room school house in Anchorage, Alaska. She eventually landed in Springfield, PA where she taught at Oakdale and Scenic Hills Elementary School. Scenic Hills was eventually recognized as one of the top schools in the country.

Despite the times, very early on, Faye was progressive as far as race relations. She went above and beyond to help the African American students from Morton who were in need.

She absolutely loved teaching and her students. She had an engaging, enthusiastic manner, and creativity to captivate the minds of children. She changed the lives of so many in a positive way through her efforts in education, whether as a mentor, volunteer, or primary school teacher. She “never” met a child she could not teach to read. She pushed her students hard and ensured they would succeed no matter what their level.

She is remembered as a truly great teacher.
